Gajgamini Brass Urli Grand Centrepiece Set
Tax included. Shipping calculated at checkout
The biggest piece we make, with everything it needs around it. The Gajgamini is our most substantial brass urli - if you host rather than attend, this is the arrangement that holds a long table without anything added to it.
What's in the set
- 1 x Gajgamini Brass Urli - solid brass, hand-chased, and the heaviest urli in our range. Named for the elephant-graced gait of classical Indian description, and built to be the object a room arranges itself around.
- 1 x Metal Hammered Platter - Gold - a hand-hammered tray whose texture breaks up the light. Sits beside or beneath the urli.
- 2 x Grey Glass Votive Holder - smoked grey glass. The cool note that stops an all-brass table reading flat.
Why these four pieces
Brass on brass on brass goes muddy under warm light. The hammered platter gives the eye a second texture at the same tone, and the grey glass gives it a different temperature entirely - which is what makes the group look composed rather than simply matched. Scale does the rest: one large object with supporting pieces reads as intention, where a scatter of small ones reads as clutter.
Styling it
Fill the urli with water to about two-thirds, float marigold or rose heads, then add three to five floating tealights. Set the hammered platter slightly off-centre beside it rather than directly underneath - the asymmetry is warmer. Place the two votives at the outer edges so the light runs the length of the table. After Diwali the urli holds beautifully dry, on a sideboard or entry console.
Care
Solid brass darkens with time and water contact - many families prefer it that way and polish only before a festival. Empty and dry the urli after each use; standing water is what causes spotting. Polish with a lemon-and-salt paste or brass polish, then dry completely. Wipe the hammered platter with a soft dry cloth only, avoiding abrasives on the finish. Glass votives wash by hand.
