Virasat Urli Console Styling Set - Urli, Cone Vases & Candle Holder

A console or sideboard needs three things working together - something low and wide, something tall, and something that holds light. Bought one at a time it is guesswork. This set is the arrangement already resolved.

What's in the set

• 1 x Virasat Urli Decorative Bowl - a wide, shallow footed bowl with an ivory fretwork band, a gold interior and gold ball feet. It anchors the arrangement and takes floating flowers, tealights or fruit.
• 1 x Gold Slim Cone Vase, Set of 2 - two narrow gold cones that give the arrangement height without taking up surface. They take dried or artificial stems rather than water, so a few tall stems in each is the look.
• 1 x Golden Arc Dual Candle Holder - a gold arc on a white marble base that carries two taper candles at different heights, so the light sits above the bowl rather than inside it.

Why these three

The Virasat urli is ivory and gold rather than all-gold, which is what keeps this set from reading as purely festive. Against that softer base the slim cones and the arc holder supply polished gold in small amounts - enough to lift the group without turning it into a metal display. The result works on a hallway console in March as readily as on a Diwali table in November.

Styling the arrangement

Set the urli slightly off-centre rather than dead middle. Place the two cone vases together at one end - a pair reads better clustered than separated - with three to five tall stems in one and one or two in the other. Put the arc holder on the opposite side so the eye travels across. Fill the urli with water and float marigold, rose heads or tealights when you are entertaining; the rest of the year it holds dried botanicals, or fruit, or nothing at all.

Care

Empty and dry the urli after any use with water - standing water will mark the finish over time. The cone vases are not designed to hold water; use dried or artificial stems. Wipe all three pieces with a soft dry cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners on the gold surfaces. Use dripless candles in the arc holder, or a small foil liner, to keep wax off the marble base.
